Homeland Security
A sustainable community is first and foremost a safe place to live and do business. Gateway Area Development District has been involved in implementing Homeland Security projects throughout our region. Gateway ADD partnered with the Kentucky Office of Homeland Security to deliver the Citizens Corps Program in our region. Citizen Corps, started in 2002 as a branch of the USA Freedom Corps, allows citizens to get involved with preparing their families and communities for disasters. If you would like more information about how to make your family safer during a disaster or you would like to find a volunteer opportunity with a Citizen Corps program, please feel free to contact our office.
Gateway ADD has also worked in partnership with the Kentucky Office of Homeland Security to ensure our communities are fully compliant with the National Incident Management System (NIMS). NIMS provides a unified and scalable command structure that can be used to manage pre-planned events or emergency responses. More information about the National Incident Management System can be found here.
Gateway ADD also actively assists the first responders in our region with securing the funding they need to fulfill their missions.
