Housing
To qualify the individual or family must be low-income as determined by HUD Income Limits for the county in which they reside, currently living in substandard housing and not have a Long-Term Debt ratio that exceeds 41%.
There are cases where an individual or family who is living with relatives or renting, but own a piece of property, can be assisted through the Gateway ADD Housing Program.
The Gateway ADD can build a 2 or 3-bedroom house depending upon the needs of the individual or family. The houses built by the Gateway ADD are handicapped accessible. New septic systems and exterior handicapped ramps can be added to the houseplans if the need is there. The houses are also inspected throughout the construction process by the local health departments, local building inspectors, a Gateway ADD procured building inspector and/or by inspectors from the Kentucky Housing Corporation.
