Regional Kitchen Cook
The Regional Kitchen Cook will prepare congregate (C1) and home delivered meals (C2) for the senior center(s) and nutrition site(s) around the Gateway region, encompassing Bath, Menifee, Montgomery, Morgan, and Rowan Counties. The Regional Kitchen Cook is responsible for all things related to food preparation, storage, and sanitation of food equipment. The Regional Kitchen Cook must maintain a Certified Food Manager License and confidentiality of all participants.
General Duties and Responsibilities
1. Meal Preparation: Involves preparing congregate (C1) and home delivered meals (C2) for the senior center(s) and nutrition site(s), organizing and stocking freezers with frozen meals, and utilizing various types of cooking equipment. This duty will consist of:
Ensure appropriate utensils and utilized when preparing home delivered meals for portion control;
Ensure proper food handling procedures are followed;
Ensure the correct quantity and recipe is followed when preparing meals;
Prepare congregate and home delivered meals using state-approved, standardized recipes; and
Utilize various types of cooking equipment properly and safely.
2. Meal Delivery: Involves packing meals for meal deliveries. This duty will consist of:
Pack home delivered meals in cooler(s)/carrier(s);
Load van with meals; and
Clean coolers/carriers following deliveries.
3. General Operations: Involves assisting the regional kitchen staff and senior center staff as needed. This duty will consist of:
Answer and direct telephone calls;
Assist participants with various needs;
Cover/operate senior center(s)/nutrition site(s);
Cover meal delivery routes;
Gather supplies from lists to be delivered to senior center(s)/nutrition site(s);
Supervise and train volunteers; and
Participate in trainings.
4. Other Duties: Involves any other tasks and assistance needed to support the senior center and/or nutrition program within the Gateway region.
Physical Requirements
Stand and walk for extended periods of time; reach, stoop, crouch, bend, and work in cramped spaces; ascend/descend ladders; ability to lift and carry approximately 60 pounds; fine motor skills; operate a vehicle.

Sight; Hearing; Speaking
Working Conditions
Indoor industrial kitchen conditions; outdoor conditions during various weather conditions and on various terrains; possible wildlife/animal encounters during home meal deliveries.
This is a 30-hour-per-week position. The position is based at the Gateway Regional Kitchen, located at 68 Old Campus Road, Frenchburg, KY 40322. Pay is $13.00 per hour.

Minimum QualificationsEducation: High School Diploma/GED or higher.
Certification and Trainings: Valid Driver’s License required. Certified Food Managers License must be acquired and maintained after hiring. Employees may be expected to attend professional development trainings related to programs and services provided through senior center sites.
Experience: Entry Level Position. One (1) or more years of related work experience preferred.
