Personal Care Attendant Program

A state funded program providing attendant services to disabled adults, allowing individuals to remain in their homes and stay active members of society with the greatest possible independence. The Gateway Area Agency on Aging and Independent living administers the program through contract with the Center for Independent Living Options.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the program, an individual must be low income, severely physically disabled, age 18 or older residing in Bath, Bourbon, Boyd, Bracken, Carter, Clark, Elliott, Estill, Fleming, Greenup, Harrison, Lawrence, Lewis, Madison, Mason, Menifee, Montgomery, Morgan, Nicholas, Powell, Robertson, Rowan, or Scott Counties. The individual must be at risk of institutional care. The disabled adult must be mentally alert with permanent, temporary or recurring functional loss of two or more limbs and need not less than 14 hours of attendant services per week. The disabled adult has the management responsibility of hiring, supervising, and firing the attendant(s).
